I am considering adding a pair of yellow tank raised seahorses to my 55G softie tank. I currently have leather corals, toadstool, mushrooms, zoas, daisy polyps, GSP, fish, and inverts.
Will they be compatible with all my corals? Will the seahorses attaching to the leather coral's arm bother either the coral or seahorse?
ditto to what onefish says. My roommate had her heart set on seahorses, and after just a day of researching we decided it was a bad idea.. they really need a species specific tank, and even then it seemed like a lot of special care needs to be taken.
Having only a softie tank, I don't have major flow. The fish and coral I have were all on the "compatible" list. It seems like the captive bred seahorses are safe but the wild caught pose the biggest problem.
Has anyone successfully introduced seahorses into a small reef?
Can seahorses spread diseases to my fish and other tank inhabitants or are they considered more of an invert in terms of not needing to quarantine.?
I'll do that. Thanks for the advice. The mandarin and scooter both eat mysis and dry foods.
Matt
