Do I need to worry about a ball anemone taking over my 55 Gal SW tank? I have noticed 5 other anemones on the same rock within a one month period.

I successfully fed my ball anemone last night, very cool.

Im guessing its a white ball corallimorph, look into target feeding zooplankton at first. It should color up (pinkish) They do best in moderate lighting & will move around the tank until there happy.

It's been a while, Im thinking they are from the Caribbean and are predators, so they will eat Clowns & other small fish.
Try to get a positive ID as white ball corallimorphs are asexual.

Does anyone have more info on this? I have something that came on my LR that is identical to this, albeit only the size of a dime or nickel currently and it's base is yellow instead of red. Other than that it looks exactly the same. If It really is the same thing and can eat my clowns when it grows I need to do something about it...

i would like a picture before i can say. It may be a coralliamorph or it could be a small rock anemone. I've seen those guys have crazy coloration and stink like crazy.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea...

I'll try to get a pic sometime next week, no promises though as they are both only 1/2" radius fully expanded at night. They are exactly like the OP's picture just smaller though. Little red/orange ball during the day, then fan out at night with mutliple blue/white dots on each tenticle
