First check it against another test kit. Unless you are adding CA at to high a rate and also have high MG levels that's not a real possibility. It will generally bind with other elements and fall out as precipitation at that level. Your test kit might not be reliable, as is the case with most. The API kits are notorious for being inaccurate. SeaChem and Salifert are the most accurate hobbyist kits.
