Help with Several Coral IDs please??

well i am sure there is something you can keep in the SPS and LPS catagory...if its not water perameters maybe light or flow.and there are always all those ricordia yumas and floridas.

I finally got myself another toadstool, this one is in much better health I believe, I just put it in a few hours ago and it already has extended some polyps!!

I think before I go down that road I'm going to see how I do with my hammer. Its LPS isn't it? I guess the next step would be a ricordea but like I said going to take this REAL slow.

yeah the hammer,frogspawn, and torch are euphyllia large polyps..slow is good ..what color is the toadstool sarco.i have been wanting a nice colored one for some time..yellow,green, or purple.but pretty pricey here.

I have found a guy in my local saltwater club that is getting his wholesale license and propagates his own stuff... have you looked on craigslist or looked into a local saltwater club? Its helped me immensly.

I have a few pics of the toadstool I'll post them, it extended all its polyps right before I went to bed, SO happy about that. The one I got from the frag swap never opened up in 2 months and died a couple wks ago. The new one has a pinkish body with green polyps. Looks great under the LEDs!

nice i think i have that exact type...is it a sarcophyton glaucum.they get pretty big...hmmm maybe at the frag swap you got corals that had not had alot of regeneration time between fraging and then aclimating to your tank and didnt make it..that sarco looks real happy..they like there flow..dont forget that they release some toxins in the water and will inhibit SPS growth.but i think it is worth it.lookin good.

So should I raise the frequency of water changes? The only ones I have that are not softies is the hammer.

good protien skimming and some monthly carbon helps to take out the toxins..and as far as your frog spawn it is fine as are most of the LPS...its the SPS that hate it ..there are some SPS that dont mind and you can keep SPS with softies they just grow slowly.

Ok. We've had to tweak the skimmer lately but its producing a good nasty blackish skimmate again. Yeah I need to put some carbon in there. :) A reactor is not quite in the budget just yet so I hope just a mesh bag in the sump is ok.

as long as there is a little flow through the carbon your good to go...in my main reef i just have a big ol sock under the return from the overflow.
