Green stuff.. Helpful/harmful?
I have some new lime green stuff growing in darker crevices of my rocks. I'm not sure what it is but my main concern is that it could be harmful or over run my tank.
I do believe those to be a type of Sponge. Sponges can be beneficial as they are filter feeders, however their fast growth should indicate excess nutrients in the tank. If they continue to grow rapidly, they can cause problems. Pay special heed to your husbandry practices and monitor their growth. In the meantime, try to get us better pics, as they can be helpful in further identification.
