ok, this is just THE coolest thing!!! i went to the butcher yesterday to pick up meat for my dogs. i found some little raw shrimp skewers and picked one up. first place i've been able to find RAW shrimp. i ground one up in my food processor. i put tiny pieces on the end of the wooden skewer and offered them to the brittle star, the urchin and the shrimp. it was such a hoot to see them grab on and take the food!!
i have seen what i *think* is another teeny tiny brittle star. occasionally, i see these tiny little black/white striped arms reaching out from the rocks. i thought i could coax him out with a piece of shrimp but all he did was grab it with one arm and disappear back into the rock. wish he'd come out!!  |
