Smethings wrong with your water. They are inverts and are very sensitive to changes in water are unstable water conditions. Ive had mine in a 14 gallon nano for over 3 months now.

hmmm, cute little buggers.from what i read they are relatively easy to keep. perhaps salinity played a role in it's demise?

You should keep them in a mature tank with lots of rock. But they are opportunisting and will eat what you give them if you dont have any bubble algea.

Emarold crabs will eat most types of algea of the live rocks. But bubble algea is just that algea that look like tiny little ballons. For a pic just type it in google.

i had trouble with an emerald crab.it was picking at corals to get at algae and or other food underneath them.i altimately had to give it back to the store.it sat in a 2 gallon bucket of saltwater with no filter light or anything accept occasionally some food i dropped in for it for over a month till i had a chance to return it to the store and was just fine.i would look deeper into your water quality and then maybe concider buying from a different store.but emerald crabs are'nt reelly a good thing to put in a reef tank with corals unless you need them to take care of a bubble algae problem.
