I use to have the coralife gloves you speak of when I had my 55g , but they were so big and bulky on me I could barely use them, I am very small not even 5' and my arms and hands are real tiny also, hence my name,,,,TinyDove,,,lol. I was just about to order the thin plastic ones when hubby said he could get those from work now so I guess I am covered in that department ...lol.

I had a Torch coral in my 55g and I brushed it once and boy I thought I was dying, it burned and my hand was all red and swollen for days... I even had trouble breating that the DR. gave me a shot for anafalactic shock not sure I spelled that right, had to stay @ the Dr.s office for a few hours so he could keep an eye on me, thank god his office is just down the street.

That is why hubby made me sell the 55g when my vision started to go. He knows how much I loved my reef and with being home alone all the time now since I can't work or drive anymore, he took pitty on me and said I could turn the 12g I have into one as long as I don't put any deadly fish or corals in it. He has no clue what is bad or not, but I figure I can handle some shrooms and rics and a few softies, just don't tell him they can all harm me, our secret , OK SSSSHHH.

As for a reef club I would love it but do not drive anymore as I said and it is hard to get around, the hubby takes me everywhere I need to go. He worries to much if I am with other people, think he thinks they will forget me on a street corner or something... What size and what kind of tank do you have?

well im glad you get to stick to the hobby you enjoy.

currently i have a 46bowfront mixed reef with 40breeder sump but soon enough (even though its never soon enough) i will have an 80 odd something tank ( its a custum built 5 foot long with 1/2 inch thick glass ) and plan on using the same sump. if your interested you can find more about it here:

I just saw ur ank, WOW!! I love the RBTA and the blue things in the front on left side, hard for me to make out what they are, everything is so Beautiful, U must be a very proud Daddy I can't wait to place my coral order this Friday, everthing I ordered to set up with the new light and things will be here on Thursday so the say. Maybe if ur close by we can swap frags

i sent you a message regarding it but anyways they are actually a purple-ish coloration in real life which is hard to tell from picture quality. its a green star polyp that is closed up, which appears purple. i currently have 2 colorations of green and 1 of pink.

One fish, here a pic of my 12g as of right now, as u can see just a bunch of LR/LS and some ugly PH and Filter tube....YUCK! Right no it just has the stock lighting daylight bulb, but this Thursday it will look so much better w/o all the hardware in the tank and with the new lights. I di have my clown and some snails and my pep shrimp who just joind the group... I will up date on Thurs. or Friday when all my fixtures come in. Maybe you can give me some ideas as what corals to add to Tiny's Little Undersea World

how are you planning on getting rid of the equipment? a sump? whats in the filter? if theres a filter cartridge i would remove it as they tend to build up nitrates and excess nutrients unless you clean them atleast daily.

i think the tank looks good now and its going to look even better when you start to add corals. maybe its time to start your own tale of your tank thread in the saltwater picture section?

what kind of corals are you looking for? how about mushrooms, rics, leathers and maybe even zoos ( you have to watch with these though because of the palytoxin )

Right now I just have an Eclipse hood on the tank, since it was only a FOWLR. I did not need anything else really, I have always been OCD when it came to my water changes and do them every week like clock work, never miss one. As I stated b4 I do not work anymore so I have all the time in the world to keep up my tank. I ordered a new Coralife PC 20' 1x96W Coralife Aqualight CF hood w/ Quad 50/50 since it should be way enough for shrooms rics and softies and was told for the filter on a 12g I could use a HOB, so I ordered a Marineland Penguin Bio Wheel Power Filter, which I can mod into a HOB fuge. I ordered the koralia Nano and a Current Lunar Light Nocturnal Simulator, Blue. I am not sure what else I would need for a small 12g. Any ideas on anything else? Let me know and I will order them right away.

on my 55g I had everything from lights to skimmmer and phosban reactor, but I have no clue as to what else I might need for this little 12g.

I was thinking about all u suggested for stocking the 12g I just love rics and shrooms and those lil" zooz...lol

sounds like you getting some good equipment, dont think there much else besides test kits and buffers which im going to guess you already have. that sounds good to me about the HOB fuge.

Yup have my test kits, but I will have to get one for calcium now with the corals. I have never had to add stuff like that, was always told as long as u are faithful about water changes all levels should be fine. And never add anything u can't test for that I know is a big no-no, saw to many friends tanks crash from that. Mine never did, levels were always on the $ (Water change, Water change)

Yeah, I love the idea of the HOB fuge myself, there are alot of sites out there that show you how to do it with just a cheep HOB filter instead of buying ones already made up for crazy amounts of $$$ and work just as well if not better. The put cheato in it and some LR rubble and ur set to go basiclly
