I don't think anemones are bound to eat the clowns. Why do you think were the clowns able to gain mutual relationship with the anemones while the other fish cannot?

What size is the anemone? I owned an anemone about 10-12 inches in diameter I think before and it served as a home for a pair of tomato clowns which were 2 inches in size.

its supposed to be one of those "known" things. like clowns from the wild "know" they live in anemones, anemones "know" clown host in them. one of those things you cant really explain. but i have never personally heard of a clown compatible anemone eating the clown.

One of our local reefers has had baby clowns in a real nem, with the nem being 100x the size of the babies. The clowns down't trigger the nematocysts, or the feeding response of the anemone. The anemone can even close up around the clowns without eating them. No worries :)
