advice on nitrate removal products

I was wondering if there are any nitrate removal products that are worth using. Since I am leaving my tank behind for a little while, I would like to add some sort of nitrate removing product to the tank just as a precaution. I saw a product at the store called 'de-nitrate', and I was going to get it but I thought it would be best to research before getting anything.
And, can these products be used simultaneously with Phosban and carbon?

haha, yes I know, I have someone changing the water. I just wanted to have something as a precaution.

You have three tanks ,do you not? Products would get expensive. I agree with previous post, water changes are cheaper and faster to control nitrates.

I approach my tank with the goal of preventing Nitrate buildup, by using high quality skimming and a deep sand bed.

However, for the sake of answering your question, I have never used the products in question. I have, however, spent a lot of time on internet forums. I can not recall anyone having a negative experience as a result of using a Nitra zorb type product.

I would only caution those to read the information on the product carefully. Nitra Zorb for example, is recommended for freshwater only. It must on occasion be recharged and,,, this is done by soaking the pouch that product comes in,,, in a solution of salt ,which releases that which the product has absorbed. Obviously, if you were to treat a freshwater tank for parasites or Illness with salt ,and not remove the product before doing so,, then product would be capable of releasing what it has absorbed back into the aquarium and at undesireable quantities. In marine tank,, product would have little use I would think.
