First some good. I have acquired some nice coral frags recently, some name brand goodies and some not so common things. This here is a Diaseris coral that you do not see very often. Many of them have alternate colors in patches or eyes with separate coloration but this one happens to be all one BRIGHT Green.

Some bad news is that I had a few loses from a alkalinity spike. I had some low levels and had run out of my bulk chemicals calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, magnesium chloride, and soda ash. Sooo I decided to mix up some calcium hydroxide" kalkwasser" for some top offs to the tanks water. I am also having a little algae issues in the tank so the additional benefit of lowering the phosphates was also desirable. When you mix calcium hydroxide for use in the aquarium you usually let it settle out after mixing in a separate container prior to adding in small quantities. I was letting this mixture settle while I was at work with the thought of adding it to a few tanks when I got home but unfortunately some one had added the water to this tank...All of it.Needles to say sudden alk and calcium shifts will harm of even kill SPS so I am at a bit of a loss here.Nothing I am too worried about as I have frags\clones of most of what was lost.

Just a bump in the road for me.

So I ended up taking down the fresh tank and consolidated the fish in another aquarium.

Sorry about the side ways picture, I posted it from a different computer and apparently it changed it appearance.

As far as the aquariums I basically lost my angel pair that I had had for many years ,first the female then the male over a few months. That was the breaking point for me to just consolidate the tetras and loaches...and the spotted raph cat I forgot about.

Now it is another salt tank I will most likely tie into the system above it and just do some more corals, inverts and a few fishes. I already have rock and sand in there and am getting fish in there ASAP.I basically rotated a salt water tank into the 40 breeder bellow rocks sand, and some water.

I am working with aquariums\ponds all day every day, some times 13-14 hours a day no joke. It is pond season here and I am busy busy on top of full time at the local fish store. A labor of love they say. Yes it sucks about my angels,I have almost gotten over it and am planning on getting some thing else for a new fresh water tank. I consolodated the fish and jungle of plants in the previous 40 breeder to my other fresh tanks...they are packed right now. The salts are all chugging along and the new 40 stack is getting a revamp as I am aiming to go back to SPS in this tank and remove any anmeones that won't stay put. They love to burn my corals I have since this last post built another 55 gallon stack for my son and instead put up 2 33s and a 55 in his room.It is looking good. But that is another story. Remind me later to post up some much needed pics,I am on a lunch break and have to leave shortly.

I always made a policy of not making my hobbies or passions my job....doing what you love most makes you an expert... but it also can take the fun out of a hobby...I build furniture as a hobby...many have suggested I do it for a job...my reply is always the same... having to do it for a living would diminish the pleasure I receive from making a one of a kind piece... I retire in 6 years... then I'll see what I do with my extra time...
Looking foreword to your pictures...
