sounds like ick, but pictures would be great.
If it is ich I would suggest raising the temp in the tank, that will speed up the life cycle of ich. Buy some rid ick medicine and dose the entire tank, you can also add some salt.

75 gallon
1 pleco
1 OB Peac0ck
1 Yellow Lab
1 Blue Peac0ck
1 Greshakei
1 Red Peac0ck
1 Acei
1 Chailosi
1 Flameback
1 Rock Kribensis
1 CAE

20 gallon
2 female bettas
6 emerald green cories

2 dogs Diesel and Hummer!

if its ick. clean the tank, do a WC, raise the temp (between 82-86), add salt (1 tbsp/gal)

they are on the anal fins of some cichlids. mostly male fish have them but females can have some too just not usually as many as the males have. not all species have them though. not sure of the purpose other then to attrach the females into spawning.

the purpose of egg spots is to help with fertilization. as the females is picking up the eggs she will try to pick up the "egg spot" while the male when she tries this releases his sperm thus making sure the eggs in the females mouth are fertile.
