what to put in my 55gal tank?

I currently have a 55 gal tank it is currently houseing 1 female jack demp and 1 placo algea eater there use to be a 5 inch jack demp male but it died last night . the jacks had a whit fuzz on them and the male semed to have a coat of slime on it also. so right now i raised my tank temp to 82 and added salt to help cure the female ( was told to do so by petsmart employee )

it was suppose to cure the fish but the male died over night the female seems ok but will check once i get home the placo has no problems . and the fuzz didnt happen untill after he was added to the tank but back on topic in about a week

i will be adding new fish to the tank ones i no its clean and sterile again all the research i have been doing says jacks and all other cichlid can live together if raised together so my question is

what type do you guys think i was thinking of getting another jack and a orange Oscar and 1 other type of fish like a catfish what do you guys think ? any other suggestions?

DO NOT add any fish until you have cured whatever is causing your fish to die.

Something is not right with your tank, can you post readings for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate, pH, GH and KH.

I would not consider an Oscar for a 55g tank with other fish, it is a little on the small side and a 75g or larger tank would be more suited to it.

my fish is completly better now so i added a new jack demp convicet and a Black Convict Cichlid with 3 mollys there just in there now untill i get my daughters tank up and running this weekend lets se how it goes
