I recently purchased this Pike Cichlid the other day. I was told it was a golden pike cichlid, and that it would only get about 8-9 inches. My phone was dead while at the store, so I didnt have the luxury of looking it up and doing a little research before I walked out the store with it.
After getting home, I tried looking it up, and I have come down to a Strigatta or Venezuela Pike Cichlid.
It is a Venezuelan Pike cichlid and is going to need a large tank as they easily get to 20" fast. They are also extremely aggressive and a pain in the butt to care for.

Well, pretty much what was in my signature, but if it gets 20", then I will be taking him back for some store credit. No way I can keep him then. I was told he was a golden and would only grow between 8-9inches, boy was I told wrong.
Goldens do not have the red strip at all on their back.
