sorry, I don't know the latin name.

I've been feeding them flakes daily an assortment of frozen things about every other day, which includes spirulina brine shrimp, tubifex worms and blood worms. Most often the brine shrimp

came home from a short camping trip today, and I have dozens or even a hundred fry!! Of course I am very excited. Anyone here raise them and what's the next step? The female is defending them very well.

edit: in this tank I have giant danios, gold bards, rosy barbs, corys, Siamese algae eaters and otos.

They need fry food.. You can buy meal or liquid fry food.. Another good source is microworms or baby brine shrimp.

If you have a food processor or a coffee grinder you can use that to pulverize your existing cichlid food into pretty much dust and give them that too!

Congrats.. I'm hoping my spawn soon!! :)

that is what I've been doing, and I picked up some frozen baby brine shrimp today.

Do I need to remove the male. The female chases him away too. It's a 46 gallon tank though.

I wouldn't worry about removing any fish. If they have lots of room to swim, lots of places to hide, I wouldn't bother fighting to take out one fish!

Start taking some pics as they get bigger.. I would love to see them!! :)

another question: I have a medium sized gold gourami that has been sequestered in another tank recently. I'd like to add her back to the main tank, but with the fry I'm not sure it is a good idea. She is bigger than the female krib, with the krib be able to fend her off and would it create a lot of extra stress? Can you have kribs breeding in a tank with gouramis?

as the male was keeing the female and her horde traed in the cave I moved him to another tank. It shares water via a 6' long 1" diameter hose. He swam up the current to get back. Wow, he is determined! Unfortunately, I blocked the end, so he is back in his own tank again.
