In less than a month I'll be moving across two states, a three hour drive, and I need to figure out a way to keep my fish alive for the whole thing. I have two Jack Dempsey's and two parrot cichlids. Anyone have any suggestions?

Best bet that'll work get buckets that have lids and place them sep in there. I'm gonna assume your vehicle will have a decent non-freezing temperature but you could also rap blankets around the buckets to keep them warm. Also assuming you'll have to take down your whole tank and move it, its beneficial to keep your filter or at least the filter media wet til you set it back up so you won't loose you b. bacteria :)
I often get fish out of Nashville which is (dep traffic/ time a day) anywhere from a 2-3 hrs drive and I always have the store double bag them and then they go into one these Styrofoam coolers from walmart in my Jeep and drip acclimate at home, works great.

I recommend something like a 15 gallon cooler. They work great at keeping the temperature warm, durable, have a lid, handles and over all they aren't expensive and worth the cost imo. Good luck!

If you want to be extra safe, you can get something called "bag buddies".
they add oxygen to the water, neutralise fish waste, and calm the fish.

Coincidentally, I sell them, but if you only need a few, you can have some for free.
(normally sell them about 50 tabs for 4.00 shipped)
one tab treats up to a gallon of water.

just pm me if you want a few. (I bet shipping wouldn't be over $2 for a bubble mailer 1st class)
