I know that oscars get big. The thing I want to know is at what age do they stop growing. My 2 Oscars are in a 90 gallen tank and are 16 months old and are about 7 inches long. Are they still growing?

I recall a couple who came into small local fish store one day while I was there, carrying two very large cooler's.
Inside each cooler was one Oscar. Each Oscar was easily,,,Twelve maybe fourteen inches long.(they were huge)
They claimed the fish were three year's old.
Those I have kept grew from selling size of three inches to maybe ten inches inside two year's.
Genetic's also must surely play a part.(some fish will grow larger,some won't)
Those two fish in the cooler's were easily the largest I have ever seen except on vacation in florida, where they grow quite large in local canal's.

Oscars grow very quickly for the first 6-12mo, then they will continue to grow at a slower rate for a few years after that. Once they reach 3 years they are pretty much done. Given proper feeding and adequate space they will easily reach 12" and can get up to 15".

I used to have two oscars, I rehomed them after 2 years and they were 12" and 10" from the lips to the end of the tail.
