I posted a question on yahoo answers about whether I could put angelfish in a tank with some other cichlids i have and people were yelling at me about how overstocked it is in the tank. I personally didn't think it was a problem but here's whats in the tank:

the tank is a 30 gallon. filtered, heated and cycled completely.
*2 convict cichlids (not breeding)
*2 green terrors (not breeding)
*1 rubberlip plecostamous (they only get to be 6 inches but he's only about 3 right now)

its not like the fish are big or anything. They all seem to be perfectly healthy but now i'm worried about them since people were telling me I was abusing my fish by having them in such a small place. The largest fish in the tank are the 3 inch convict and the 3 inch pleco. all the other fish are less than 2 inches.

if there isn't a problem, would I be able to add a couple of angelfish? thanks so much!

Yes, overstocked. The green terrors will get to about 8-10" each. When stocking a tank you must keep in mind the adult size of the fish. They may be small now but grow quickly. Are the convicts a male and female pair? If so, you could probably keep them in the 30 gallon by themselves with nothing else. Even then, the male may beat up the female. One green terror will need a minimum 55-75 gallon tank. And, no, you cannot keep an angel with green terrors or convicts. They are much more aggressive then the angel.

the size of the tank with other inhabitants in is slowing there growth process......You need to rehome them or buy a bigger tank.......I would take them back to the fish store where you bought them and complain about their bad info they gave you.......A quality store should take them back for credit for you.......I would point out your future business will be done elsewhere if they dont stand behind there bad advice that they gave you.......Good Luck!
