stocking a 125

I have a 125 that is vacant right now. I like large fish. I use to have a 10" jag in there, but got rid of it before I moved. With that being said, I'm looking for relatively large fish. Would be happy with a single specimen, but wouldn't mind a few (max about 3, maybe 4). I like large, impressive fish. Doviis? peacock bass? arrowanas? large knife fish? any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated.

Okay, I have a few reccomendations (idk about compatibility, or any of that, these are just some fish I know of that you might be interested in) Peacock bass needs atleast 300 gallons. :(

~ arrowana should be ok! Good choice!
~ A dovii would be great, too!
~calvus cichlid (they only get about 6 inches, but they are AMAZINGLY PRETTY)

Hmmm I would say no to most of those.
~acanthicus adonis (Adonis Pleco)
Gets absolutely huge, even for a pleco. These will break three feet in length and thus need a very large aquarium.

Should work ok but does better in groups than singly. These are also very expensive and require live foods.
~ arrowana should be ok! Good choice!
I would say no. The smaller species should be in a 180g minimum, silvers need something like a 300g.

Maybe a female, but males get absolutely gigantic so I would say 180g minimum for a male.

Kind of mild mannered and do better in groups. Would work well in this tank but doesn't really fit the bill.

If I were you, I would stick with medium-large cichlids like your jaguar. There are many species of pike cichlid that would also work nicely.

Severum, Uaru, Texas, Oscar, some of the Vieja species and most of the Geophagus would be some other possiblities.

Lupin

Dats don't usually grow fast. You'll be fine with it for a little while until you can upgrade. LOL...As for the adonis pleco, they are not exactly the best plecos for tanks considering their nasty temperament. They have been known to harass any bottom dweller and may possibly harass other tankmates that don't even share their level.

indeed. dats actually average* 1"/yr (maybe 2) so depending on the size they are when you get them, you will have LOTS of time to grow them out without having to worry about upgrading your tank
