Starting Up A Chiclid Tank?

Hi, I have had a 70 litre tropical community tank for around 3 months now and fancied trying something new. I have a few fish already so the biological filteration is working (I hope!). These fish would be transferred into another tank which is alot larger and has been set up for around 6-7 years; also a tropical community tank. I wanted to adapt my 70 litre tank into a chiclid tank but I am blank on the knowledge of these fish. I know they need to be kept seperate and are aggresive. What do they need and like? Is a 70 litre tank large enough? How many chiclids, if any, can i have in this tank? Do they like fake, plastic plants or do they need real shubbery? What food do they need? Can you help me?

Well, cichlids are the most diverse group of fish on the planet, so it's really difficult to tell you anything specific about them. However, a 70 liter tank is going to severely limit your options, as many cichlids get much too large for a tank this size. Here's a link to another thread where I gave some cichlid ideas for someone with a similarly sized tank:

You should try angelfish. There a fun chiclid. There are many varietys to choose from and are very hardy.

I disagree. Angelfish get very large (8" long and 10" tall) so they really need a much bigger tank than 70 liters.
