Some important angelfish questions...(I'm a noob)

What is the maximum size that angelfish grow to? Everything I've read so far gives me measurements in centimeters, and I'm retarded when it comes to metric. What is their max size in inches? How big of a tank are they eventually going to need? Is it an absolute necessity to have live plants in the aquarium with them? How would I go about doing that?
Also, would a high fin banded shark be compatible with angelfish? Thanks in advance!

if we are reading about the same fish Myxocyprinus asiaticus,
then it has different requirements to the Angel fish,
and Angel fish are best in a tank of 18 inches deep or more,
as some such as the Koi angel can grow to be 6 inches
they like planted tanks to give them a sence of security.
