Sinlge Cichlid in 30G

Is there a Cichlid that I could keep in a 30Gallon tank by itself? I would like to have 1 larger (not like Oscar big) cic in it if possible.

there are a few things you could put in it if it will only be one cichlid.

something like a pair of convicts would be cool (so you could have fry and such)

venustius hap. (sp?) would do well

you could even get away with putting a JD or GT for a while.

I was *wanting* to put in a Jack, put I think it would be too small. A few sites say you can keep one alone in a 30, but I think that wouldn't be fair for the fish.

I was also looking at convicts. I will have to look at Peacocks as well.

Aquarium
How about a Firemouth or a couple Keyholes.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

I currently have a 5" Uaru with (2) Royal farlowellas(Sturisoma panamense), and a small group of C. anneus "albino" in a 30g.Plastic plants(oh, how I hate to admit that) are needed as the Uaru is a vegetarian, for the most part, and will absolutely destroy even the toughest of plants. I learned from experience. The fish DESTROYED a $30 Anubius. Plant has healed, that's the good news.

Ok, some really good ideas. I haven't decided on anything yet, but I am thinking.

Anyway I could keep a single JD in the tank? I doubt it, but its a thought.

I would say no. It would simply grow too big when fully grown to have enough swimming space.

So, will my Uaru, but she will go into another tank when that happens. A JD would be fine, as long as you realize that, eventually, he will have to be moved to more spacious quarters. Another suggestion, a male Nicaraguense. Awesome fish in color!!!!
