Sick angel?

I cant tell if it looks like his gills are bleeding or just normal coloration. Water parameters are perfect 0/0/10, he is eating just fine and active. I have watched the tank for about an hour and have not seen him get picked on. Actually, he bullies one of the other angels.

Ps, i know i post a lot. I love my fish and am very excited, but worry easily too. I want all my babies happy and healthy.

How long have you had this fish for, has it looked like this around his gills since you got him, or has it just occurred? Have you noticed any other unusual behavior?

I have had him for about a week. For the life of me i cant remember if he looked like this. Inl asked my husband and he cant remember either. I think this red has just shown up. I got him with 3 other angels and then added the 2 i orginally had all together in the new 75 gallon tank. He still has a very healthy appetite, hangs out with the other angels, and is active. He nips at my black marble angel, but hasnt been picked on at all that i have found.

I am having to sign off here shortly for at least a little while but I would suggest at taking a look at this thread Freshwater and Saltwater Diseases A lot of information about different diseases. Has he seemed to be rubbing himself against anything, how is his breathing is it rapid, slower than usual or does it seem to be normal as compared to the other angels? I have seen some angels that have that type of coloration before if I remember right they are referred as blushing. If you are unable to get any good answers here I would suggest checking at Angelfish Forum II The folks there know there stuff when it comes to these guys and may have a better idea what is going on.

Well, i have read the entire disease forum before a day or so ago amd it has me convinced that all my fish will catch deadly diseases and die and it will be all my fault :/ im a fish hypercondriact lol.

Your welcome, I can understand about being worried about your fish catching something. One of the big things about keeping your fish healthy its to make sure that you keep the water clean, regular water changes Also another thing I would suggest is using a quarantine tank when you get new fish. A nice simple set up, a 10 gallon would suffice unless the fish is really big. This slows you to observe your new fish to make sure they are healthy before adding them in with your other fish. Also if they are ill then it makes it easier for treating them and can keep diseases from spreading to your other fish ;)

Well my mind has been eased by the experts on the other forum. Apparently jezebelle is a blushing angel :) googling other pic of blushing angels made me feel confident that this is the case :)

Good to hear Now it will be interesting to see if she keeps the blushing appearance as she matures, I was reading that sometimes as they mature the pigment will come in on their gill plates and the blushing look can disappear.
