shy firemouths

ive just recently gotten several firemouths to replace my convicts and have taken up residence in there former tank but i never see them they seem to spend 90% of there time hiding the tank contains a med-sized common plec and a small syno cat the firemouths only about an inch and a half long. what would make them more confident? plants? dither fish?

piles of flower pots put in really for the catfish i would rather they come out of there own accord rather than removing the hidey holes i keep keyholes in another tank and they much more comfident with than without hidey holes

Dithers will not always work with FM's they are not TOO aggresive on the scale of things. Try leaving the light of awhile. And avoid all unessasary movement in front of the tank. Just see how it goes, they will come round. But I would go with the re-arangement also. :)
