Red Devil Tank Mates

I got a little 2-3" Red Devil tonight and I was wondering what some possible tank mates would be.
I am keeping him in a 55 gallon aquarium, currently heavily planted (I guess we will see what it looks like in the morning) and I was wondering what other cichlids would be okay to keep with it. I know they would have to be rather small considering it is a small tank, but at the same time probably decently aggressive to hold their own.

None... 55 gallons is too small for even one red devil. Not only that but I doubt one will tolerate anything else for long in that size tank. Plus I am like 99% sure that those plants will get ripped to shreds very soon.

PS: you fish is probably not an actual red devil. It is more likely a hybrid of the red devil(amphilophus labiatus) and midas cichlid(amphilophus citrinellum). Most people just call them midevils.

"responsible fish keeper?... Didn't know there was any other kind"

I am not retarded I just can't spell

Agreed on the tank being too small for them.

Yes they are small now but they grow quick and still show the aggression at a young age.

They are best kept alone in a species only tank as they do not make good tank mates for much unless the tank is 125g 6ft long or bigger.

With regards to the plants, they will either rip them to shreds or be constantly digging them up. Nothing you can do to prevent them digging, it is their nature.

They would be far better suited for a 75g or larger tank.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)
