Rebuilding Stock Suggestions

Since the loss of my two fish the other day, I've begun the process of trying to think of what I might want to replace them with. Cichlid's it has to be.

I don't want to rush into anything and I only want 2 or so to keep with my 4" Rubber Lipped Pleco. I'm thinking Salvini or JD with one other for my 55g. Keeping it simple and uncluttered is my goal, as it was with just my 3 fish. A total of 3 or maybe 4 which includes the Pleco, tops.

Really what I'm looking for is something different than a Serverum.

Perhaps?:
1 Salvini or JD
1 Convict or a compatiable to the above
and the lone RL Pleco.

Thanks so much for the advice in advance.

Well, I brought home a 2" JD and a 2" Convict. To the best that I can tell the JD is male, though I'm sure it's WAY too early to tell.

At the LFS, I watched him for quite awhile and I kept looking at the gill plate. There are faint blue spots up near the front fins, just above the gill plate. Time will tell. The Convict was easy, orange belly, female. Fed them this morning and eating doesn't seem to be a problem at all, and they are coming to the front glass already.

I'll post up some pic's, as soon as they get settled in and their color comes back up. Looks like they'll fit very well.

As promised, some pics of my tank and my 2 new additions. I apologize for the quality. My digital camera is very old. Someday, I'll take some better ones.
