I haven't kept rams and kribs but you do seem to have a lot of bottom dwellers. Don't know if it would work out ok in a 38.

I had a single krib in a 55 gallon with a pair of electic blue rams which spawned and they were always chasing the krib around the tank and I ended up moving the krib to another tank. Everything was okay until the spawn, so you'll probably be fine since they are the only cichlids in the tank. But you never know

I was breeding rams but the cost got to high... the male killed her... some how a male got a gash and died... so i am looking into kribs because they are cheaper... and they are also pretty

I would not mix them, not in so small (relatively to them) a tank.

If you check the Krib profile, you'll note they are aggressive with other cichlids, especially when spawning which as a pair they would frequently be doing. A ram, tough as it may be, is not a match for a krib that attains 4 inches.

Generally speaking, "dwarf" cichlids are not good with species combined. It will work depending upon the species, and in large enough tanks for sizable territories with "walls" (plants, rock, wood) separating the territories. I have a pair of Bolivian Ram in my 115g 5-foot tank, and I would not consider another cichlid in there. And I have a pair of Apistogramma baenschi in my 4-foot 90g, and another Apisto might manage. But these fish spawn every month or two, and they are not docile when they do.

Byron.
