I have two black diamond Cichlids which unexpectedly bred and the eggs have hatched. I have raised baby angelfish before but never black diamonds. Has anyone bred and raised these fry successfully? If so, what advice could you give me. Unlike angelfish which are very common I could not find any good advice on raising black diamond Cichlids on Google.
Thanks
Congratulations! We do have many Cichlid keepers here on TFK, hopefully someone can help you with them.
Can you tell us a bit about them? I know nothing about breeding other than raising Rusties and they just managed it all on their own, out of site behind the rocks. Are they a "pair" in the tank alone? Are they mouth brooders? Is Dad watching over them or Mom or both?
Just hoping someone can help you here.
All I know is good clean water, fry tanks need frequent if not daily water changes.
Can you post a photo or the scientific name of the fish you're speaking of? I've been working with fish over 30 years and never heard of a Black Diamond Cichlid. If anyone else can clear this up do tell.
If so I'd probably not trust the dad along with the fry. Probably safest to put them in a fry tank. feed baby brine shrimp with spirulina or something like that. Don't know what else to tell you.. Not 100% familiar with these guys .
