As Toolman Tim would say, "More is always better". The plants may become cichlid salad, though, as mbuna are primarily vegetarians.

so more rocks??? Do you think that if i added more that electric yellow would stop chasing my redtail shark as much??

Yes, more rocks. Your shark should actually be removed. Your tank is too small to allow the cichlids to take control of their territories.

Nope. Your tank is just too small to allow both cichlids and red-tail sharks together.

oh ok well all i have in it right now are one electric yellow and one redtail shark. I am still debating on whether keeping electric yellows and red zebras or just electric yellows and maybe the redtail even though a lot of people say it doesn't belong. But then others say it will probably work.
