Oscar tankmates

Has anyone ever kept shrimp/lobsters with an Oscar? Just wondering, because they do a good job of keeping the bottom of tanks clean and Oscars are messy eaters

hmm, you would need a big one since oscars will eat anything that fits in their mouth.

My Oscar wouldnt eat another fish or shrimp for anything.
only pellets.

matt, have you tried putting a feeder Goldfish in there?

I dont have him anymore but ya.
He would not eat them.

wow thats very surprising, maybe you fed him very well in which he wasnt hungry for anything else, besides you should never feed feeder fish to your fish unless you bred the fish or youve quarantined it for a month

He didnt eat them so we left them in there and they grew up to pond size and that is were they are now.

I am sorry for the disruption in your thread. To answer your question. I have had oscars in the past never have I had either a shrimp or a lobster with them so I am not sure. I have seen blue lobsters in tanks with predatory fish I would imagine if you have a place for it to hide when it feels threatened then maybe it would be okay. Sorry I could not help more.

why dont you use another type of bottom dweller like a Clown Loach, i heard clown loaches are compatible with oscars but look that up first.
