Ok, so I just love my new fish friends lol

These fish are so amazing and fun to sit and look at...my bumblebee changes colors right before my eyes..he will be very bright and than almost go pitch black " he's only done this twice that I have seen" but very cool to see.
And my red cichlid has been moving rocks ALL day....what a worker he is...and the big rocks he get's behind them and pushes those as well..it's amazing to see...this red one " really color orange lol " also acts crazy...he will go up down....up down....up down...across the tank do twirls and wirls...I've never seen anything like it really.

My convicts always totally redecorated their tank every few days. After a gravel vacuum we'd just put all the decorations back in wherever and they'd have it all moved around how they'd like it in a few hours.

One of the big males even took to spitting gravel at the glass in order to get our attention when he wanted to play.

Hah, my Severum I used to have (RIP Buddy) would do the same thing. he would spit gravel at the glass and then when I would walk over to look at him he would wiggle at me and beg for food. He had a great personality.

there is one thing that i see my cory do a lot... he will swim to the top of the water(which i thought was weird cuz he is a bottom dweller) and go back and forth along the surface on his side with one of his pectrol fins out of the water like a dolphin! then go to the bottom and back to the top and do it again. it is entertaining to watch!

my fish eat both flake food and frozen shrimp. they like the shrimp better but dont refuse the flakes when i offer them.

one of my severums I just got to add to my 110 gal. hes about 1 to 1.5" is all , and hes only got one eye. for some reason he warmed up to me SUPER fast (hes currently growing out in my female betta 10 gal with 7 female bettas). Ive only had him for a couple weeks and hes already eating out of my fingers :O

that is really neat! i live in the country and i have a pond in my back yard that has sunfish in it. there are about 3-4 of the sunfish that will come to the edge and eat a worm out of my hand. there is only 1-2 that will let me pet them as they eat but it is still so cool. :D

How big is that pond?? That sounds awesome! I can get sunnies from the lake down the street. Koi are pretty but I really wonder about putting them in ponds since they never seems big enough for the fish. I hear from my neighbors that have ponds that the birds in the area LOVE the ponds and they loose fish all the time.

im not sure how long it is but its pretty long. it isnt a rock garden or anything its a real pond. we have a bunch of springs in our backyard so we dug out a pond. :) it is only arounf 4-5 feet deep but in the summer we will make it deeper. it has 2 streams going into it and another coming out. the 2 that lead into it push a bunch of gravel and dirt into the pond so it has filled in a lot in the past years. :?

iam finding cichlids are awesome as well, my j.d. now nips at my hands and arms when i move something or vacuum the gravel! it feels wierd but he has a good little nip, i think he even pulled a hair or 2 out of my arm one day!

hes got quite a personality, he hides when my friends come over and knows when their backs are turned cause he'll come out and just stare at me!

i love em, but i do need a bigger tank (dont really have the money nor space in my bedroom), from what everyone tells me roughly a 55 gallon.

c4f, you probably had a prawn, a member of the shrimp family. They can get a little testy, much like a crayfish(freshwater lobster -- crawdads where I come from lol).

By the way folks, I have to say that I am in 7th Heaven reading what all of you are saying about my favorite family of fish. I have been keeping cichlids, religiously, for over 25 years, longer if you wish to include angel fish. I am glad that all of you find them as interesting as I have for all of these years. I can remember going to "all-species" shows and being looked down upon by keepers of killies and tetras. I should have had you guys as my back up. lol :yourock:
