Yeah, it does look small. Do you know the dimensions of the tank?

They sell test kits for GH and KH but you should be able to find out your water hardness from your city water board.

150 Gallon - Mostly American Cichlids
135 Gallon - Angelfish Community
75 Gallon - Odd couple (Polleni/Angelfish)
55 Gallon - African tank
20 Gallon Long - QT
10 Gallon - Empty

im going to his house today im gonna look at it ill let you guys know but he told me hes swimming around today i looked his fish up on google and not all nicaraguensis cichlid have blue faces anyway im gonna check it out today.....

well the tank is a 20gl not a 45 anyway im gonna buy the nic from my friend for $10 :) cheap. anyway before i get this fish is he ok to put with a adult male red devil hes about 6 to 8 inchs and the nic is 6 to 7 inchs female.
they are going in a 75gl tank with sand & rock caves etc...

i read up on it it says they are both aggressive.

Red Devils Usually don't except other cichlids in the tank. I would watch them carefully

ya well the nic cichlid didnt work out he got attacked so i gave him back im bringing the red devil to this fish store owner ed aquatics in biemingham alabama hes gonna give me a 5 inch yellow lab solid no black strip through him 1 green terror 4inch & 1 texas 3inch for the red devil.ill post pics later
