New to me Cichlid Tank !

Hello, hello

I have adopted a 33 gallon Cichlid tank...I purchased it from someone who already had it all set up so we saved much of the old water and such so we could keep the tanks levels where they were...I'm looking up all I can about my Cichlids but one thing that would help would be to know " what type are they " from looking and comparing pictures on the net I think I have ....

** a red tail shark
** cobalt blue cichlid
** eletric yellow "
** bumblebee "
** a huge algea eater
** I have more I cannot name yet !

In total there are 13 and he has had the tank set up for some time and they have done fine..I have a few I can't name yet..looking up pictures online to try and name them.

I am new and want my fish babies to do well and so far the main important " to do's " is to keep my water temp around 70 - 80 ??
And to make sure my PH level is good..so I want a nice blue ??

I have added and will be adding lot's of rocks to make caves so they can hide...

What do you all feed your cichilds ? Here they say gold fish flakes are fine as it has the right proteins...

Ah, you are a woman after my own tastes. lol Your Bumblebee, Cobalt and Elecric Yellow are all Malawian cichlids from Lake Malawi in Eastern Africa. The lake is a part of the chain of lakes known as the Rift Lakes. These lakes are made up up of very hard water and rocky biotopes. Fish like rockwork and lots of places to hide. They are very territorial and can be pugnacious at best. You may want to get a hospital tank started as they can get very rough with each other and inflict serious injury. Good luck.

I wonder if I have them named wrong lol because these guys are being very nice to one another..this tank was set up and they all seem to be very healthy all fins in such " there " but he did and I do now have many little cave like rocks set up so they each can have their own place.

I can't name cics very well, but you definatley have all Africans (if not most).

The little guy on the bottom in the first pic is a Tiger Barb.

The first fish in the second photo is a rainbow fish. the Tiger Barb has already been identified. The others are african cics, hopefully somebody with more experience with these fish will be able to identify their specific names.

WOW, getting closer....I am up looking over these new fish like children making sure their ok haha
As mentioned the person who I purchaed these fish from had them together and so far in my care they have all been very good together..I also have two that look like silver dollars but they have two black strips on the back.....

another question...do they like the light left on at night ??

No you should't leave the light on all the time. Fish need a sense of night and day, but on top of that excessive light can lead to algae growth.
