new fish

so I went and got a new fish for the tank the only place I found was a mix tank so they said they couldn't tell what kind they were so I was hoping someone on here could

Looks sort of like an Oscar...
By the way those decorations look like they were taken from a child's room. Are you sure they're from a good pet store and is specifically made for tanks?
I don't mean to be offensive or anything they just don't look like they came from a store :P

I would have concerns buying a fish from a store that can't even identify what fish they are caring for. The reference area on this site is one good start to try to identify fish.
If it is an oscar, they grow quite large.

Definitely not an Oscar. It looks like an African cichlid but I am not good when it comes to identifying them. Hopefully some of our African cichlid keepers will chime in.

yes they came from a fish store and made for fish tanks. the kiddos picked them out :).. the tank said African cichlids mix I was just wondering what kind the other one we got looks like a acei . and the only reason I bought them was because after driving around for three hours going to different fish stores the only ones I found was this place and a catch it your self fish tank all the other places had cichlids but they were small

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)
