Need help sexing my Electric blue rams..

I have no idea which one is which.. The LFS is going out of business and they had 2 of them.. The owner said the small one which is the one with the blue rocks is the female and the larger one I have with the black rocks is the male..

What do you guys think ? And will a Electric blue ram mate with a Electric blue balloon ram ? I have a Balloon one as well.

1st male, 2nd female. They arent the same, right?

Balloons are hideous creatures that struggle to live. Dont breed them...

No both are separate fish.. The bottom the supposed female the store owner said.. and the top is the supposed male... I bought both regardless because they are pretty.. Just expensive was $30 each..

The Balloon I didn't realize they had Balloons.. Petco had a "electric blue ram" for $24 but now that im looking at it... Its a Juvie but it looks like a Balloon

Yea I think the Petco one was really expensive.. and the LFS had both rams for 35.99... But they had a 20% off sale for going out of business so I got both for 28 each... Its ok... They have a piss poor selection of fish in Northern Virginia... Only 1 local fish store exists in the whole NOVA area and they are going out of business..

Petsmart only sells regular fish like platys and neons... nothing special.. and the petco might have a ram every now and then... So when I saw these 3 I snatched em up.. The problem though is even though I love the balloon I have... it is more "white" then blue... Im not sure how to get it more colorfull... Are you 100% positive I have a male AND female blue ram ? So should I take the female and put it in with the male then ?

I think its a Juvie but I still think hes cute... he sits on top of my Red tiger lotus leaves near the top of the tank and chills out there..

Ya i would put the two together. You can never be 100% sure, but im pretty sure.

It does look somewhat like a balloon.

Oh and

Is 7.4 PH too high for an electric blue ram.. The female is in my moms tank she loves the ram but im worried its ph is too high for it..

My tank with the black rocks the PH is 6.8.. Our 55g the ph is 6.0

Na 7.4 is fine. They do like lower ph, but no big deal.

Agreed, the price is outrageous. I got mine for $10 each. They may not like each other--be prepared to separate them if this happens. They like to "choose" their own mates, and they may or may not decide to set up housekeeping. They like it warm--80-82F, too.
