Talking My GBR spawned!!

Hello again no questions this time although i might pop in a few if they come to me. So here is what happened.
I bought a pair of beautiful GBR and broght them home to their new tank. its 10 gallons, only for breeding and within the next 24 hours they had bonded and spawned What a suprise!! I left the eggs there and in 24 hours i had little wrigglers swimming around. I am still waiting for them to become free swimming.
oh here is a question- i dont have a brine shrip hatchery or anything of that sort so what should i feed them? i have heard Egg yolk ? thanks for any suggestions.

Will be posting pics of the kids and parents soon

It's so exciting when they have fry, but don't get your hopes up. I had my fish go through 3 batches, and none survived. The parents ate them at some point. I finally decided, and why am I doing this?

Anyways, I heard GBR fry won't eat anything but live food. Don't know if that is true. I tried egg yolk (cooked) and fry food and frozen bbs but because they never survived, I tried hatching my own bbs - ugh, a pain! That didn't work either, but. . . for the first hatch, try frozen baby brime shrimp and use a syringe to deposit the food where the fry are. The parents will likely attack the syringe but it's the best method. You should do this about 3-4 times a day.

Good luck. Can't wait to hear how it works out for you with this batch of babies! Aren't they cute?

Thanks a bunch Gwen . Yeah its really exciting, ididnt expect them to spawn so readily and yet they spawned and did not even eat the eggs or fry until now

ill take all your advice to heart its really appreiciated , ive got a really good fry tank ive been working on and i hope it will soon be occupied by some lovely GBR fry if it doesn't work this time and the fry end up dieing ill put them in the fry tank as soon as they are wrigglers and try growing them up there. Do you think boiled egg yolk or raw is better? ive been giving them boiled by the way- just curious
PS- ill update as soon as i find my camera and then ill let u know how the fry are doing the Pic in my signature is the father of the fry

I used to have a brine shrimp hatchery that was positioned inside the tank. That is nice because you don't have to figure out how to heat the hatchery water. Live BBS can be a pain but, they're hard to beat for fry food. Also great conditioning food for adults. I've talked myself into digging that thing out again.

Can't wait to see pictures! I never removed mine, because I just didn't have a good tank for it. I think a 20 gal long would work. My female is now dead. I believe the male killed her, because he was ready to spawn. He's a bachelor now. :D The idea of fry just was too much. I'm such a weirdo about placing animals, that I would never find enough people who were "good enough" homes, and the LFS where I buy my rams, will only give a meager credit. Just not worth the work to me :)

I'm guessing it's boiled yolk. I can't imagine putting raw yolk in the tank. Yolk will mess your water up quick. Keep a close eye on your water parameters with fry in the tank. I really loved mine, but it seemed after about 4-5 days of being free swimming, the parents ate them. I thought the last batch would work, because I was feeding live bbs, but sadly, no :(
