My cichlids on vacation.

OK, for the third time in as many days, 1 acei and 2 BristleNose Plecos have decided they do not like the tank and have ventured into new territory.

Went down to feed them this morning, noticed an acei was missing, after a quick check around, he is in my sump!, probably had quite a ride considering the overflow runs at just under 600gph!, stopped the overflow to get him out and on removing the first stage basket to get him out, found the plecos sat under the filter floss!

Somehow, someone managed to remove the plastic filter guard I have on the overflow pipe (DIY overflow), time to break out the rubber band again!

Perhaps you could fashion a wire/plastic screen that fit's inside the overflow pipe ?
I have a Texas cichlid that simply would not leave stick on thermometer alone ,so I removed the little suction cup and now he swims around the tank carrying the thermometer

The overflow was covered with a plastic screen filter from an old powerhead I had lying around.

Saying that, last time I got them out, someone had chewed the rubber band as it was floating in the tank..this time, I just took the overflow out and glued the cap in place with underwater coral adhesive...trying get that off you little so and so's

lol to your jewel, that sounds really funny to see.

Ha ha ha. Where there's a will, there's a way. Hopefully that does the trick.
