is my baby texas trying to mate with my big RD

I have a texas cichlid, hes really pretty his back half is black and white like a convict and his front half is all flouresent dots. He is about 2.5". I also have a RD about 6.5 7". Everytime my baby texas sees my RD he starts shaking his head and whole body... is he trying to mate with my RD or is he just freaking out cuase he thinks hes gonna get eaten?
