my albino oscar is so weird

Im sitting here putting a porfolio together for class tomorrow and he has been moving rocks for like 4 hours. He has a half piece of a pot that he claims as his territoy and he dug out all the rocks under it all the way to the glass. And now he is just going around the tank picking rocks up coming to the front of the tank and looking at me and spitting them out. He is so funny to watch. I might of pissed him off though, like an hour ago I reached in and pushed rocks back under his pot. he made quick work though to dig it back out. He also like to attach the pot. He opens his jaw and just pushes along it. anyways thought it was kind of funny.

I have two Oscars of my own. A Tiger Oscar,And an Albino Tiger Oscar-both are about 9" long.Take a look at them in my Tank Profile Pics. They both behave exactly as you stated.They will pick up the pebbles, swim to the front of the tank, almost to the top and spit them out.over and over.It is perfectly normal behavior.My best friends Red Oscar does this as well. Mine have done this since they were big enough to fit the pebbles in their mouth.I have read that it may be a nesting instinct with the digging under your pot.And the picking up and carying off the rocks maybe the fish having fun,or maybe bored.oscars are very smart and inquisative,im sure yours (as every Oscar),has his unique personality.

dats pretty neat :) but watch out as he gets older he will attack your hands if you mvoe his stuff around, you should buy Aqua Tongs rather than your hands sicne sometimes you might forget its dirty and can contaminate the water.

P.s. if you tend on buying them, get plastic ones, metal oens will rust.

Hehe, they definitely like to do silly stuff like that! My friend had one that accidentally taught him that spitting gravel towards him meant getting fed. So every time he wanted food he'd just spit gravel towards my friend. Kinda cute, but eventually it gets a little annoying like "if I wanted a pet begging for food, I would have gotten a dog"
