Mr President's relocation

After we bought a new fish tank for my daughter's room we decided to place our oldest honorable angel - Mr President there for permanent residence. After his companion had died we tried to get him new friends but he would kill them all.

Then my husband got some tiger barbs - just for the color, without any investigation into their habits. It all was fine, however, and they had established some decent relationships. The barbs grew up quickly and became quite lazy. Mr President looked gloomy but still kept his chin up. Then we read that these species cannot be kept together and relocated Mr President to a new tank.

However my daughter wanted some neons badly. Since we already have neons and cardinals together with angels in our 80 gal we thought they would be fine, Mr President thought differently. I do not know whether he considered them lunch or just was irritated by their rushing around, but he started attacking them ferociously, and we had nothing to do but to return him to his barbs! You should have seen the barbs! They wouldn't wait a sec and the whole batch went after Mr. President's fins in no time! It hadn't happened before!

We had nothing to do but to risk and place Mr President in the 80gal with other angels. He was not aggressive to them, maybe just a little with the smaller ones. He never touched the neons there. He just bit one of the golden gouramis in the lips! Maybe it was his way of saying 'hello'. He looks happy now. Taking his age into consideration (10 years old), he is a real fighter and we hope to have him for some more years to come! :)

Tetras and angelfish don't mix especially when the tetras are quite small. Angelfish have a natural tendency to consider several tetra species as prey rather than tankmates and tetras are naturally their prey in the wild.

As for the barbs, the fact that they have been separated for quite some time did not allow the angelfish to recognize the angelfish. They have established in your tank and will do all means to attack any long-finned species you put.

I'm ready for the pressure.
The drama and the pleasure!
If there is one thing I want to see here, it's HUMOR.
I believe I can fly!
I believe I can touch the sky!
I think about it every night and day!
I stand in awe of my body.
