i have three small kribs in a 26 gallon, i filter it with a Marineland Emperor 280 and theres a few gouramis and two plecos in the tank. my two females are perfectly fine, but the only male shimmys and is pale in color. what could be the matter? none of the other fish are showing problems.

How long have you had the fish? Are you certain that you have two females and a male? could the two females actually be a male and female? if so it is possible that they have formed a pair and the lone fish is trying to stay out of their turf. Is also possible that the pale fish is sick if the fish are new. About all I would do were it me,,(and it ain't) Is maintain the water quality through not overfeeding and performing water changes as needed, and just observe the fish.

i change twice a month and my filter is an emporer 280 quite overpowered so i dont think my water is too horrible. and yes i am sure its two females and a male. and the male has been in the tank for at least a month now i think. i put a little bit of salt in to try to reduce stress and increase electrolytes.

I might try weekly water changes rather than twice a month considering the size of your tank and the fish therein. You may think water quality is not too bad but without test results It would be guessing.

i tested it a couple weeks back when i had a bacteria bloom and the water was fine and that was after not being changed for a while.
