Kribensis Fry!!!

Well though my tank may be a little green right now its just going to have to wait! Had thought we had seen some eggs in the cave with the female but the next day they were gone so we thought she ate them. Well tonight look in right after I was prepping to take care of my poor neglected tanks and notice at least 30 fry hiding under the new mom and dad! They are super protective and are keeping all the other fish away from the little ones. Do I need to do anything different than I normally do to make sure that at least a few survive? How fast will they grow? Thanks

To feed my baby kribs and tbars I get granulated food and gind it into a powder using a motar and pestle. Grind it as fine as possible then dissolve it in a glass full of aquarium water. Just a dab of the powdered food will work. Use a turkey baster or eye dropper to place the food as close to the fry as possible. I usually just empty the baster above the nest. Since the food will already be water logged it will sink down to the fry.

Kribs are awesome. Once I finally got a male and female going, they won't stop. I have close to 75 fry growing now, and have taken tons more to the LFS.

Congrats! I remember many years ago sitting with my infant son in front of a beautiful planted community tank watching as my Kribs raised a school of fry. You're having a terrific experience I'm sure. One thing, most of the baby kribs ended up female, like 4:1. Apparently it was the Ph of the water. You might want to look into this.
I'm very happy for you and for the wonderful memories your post brought back.

Kym, I know my wife took pics of me and my son sitting in front of the tank. Not sure where they are but now is NOT the time to ask. We remain in the motel waiting on the repair/construction folks to finish rewiring the water, electrical system and the heatpump. Even then it might be too dusty etc to move back in, even to the intact end of the house. It still seems sureal.
I was sitting on the bed getting ready for work when I heard a sound like a train. I got up, walked 10 ft to peek out the bathroom window and all hell broke loose. Trees hit my end of the house, crashed thru the roof, knocked the chimney thru the roof and the result pancaked our bedroom into the living rm below and that in turn fell thru into the basement. Everything from wall to wall ended up in the rubble pile but me. No one was injured. I know this was more than you wanted to know..
So the impact zone will someday be a big tank and my office as well. LOL

You are right, now is not the time to ask! But, my memory is like a steel trap ( ) and once I know that things are back to *normal* I will hit you up for posting pics. In the meantime I hope Cheerful Melody will get some pics snapped of her babies.
