So I'm going to be getting a 20 gallon long aquarium in a month or so, and I've decided to make this a small cichlid tank. Not sure if it'll be for shell-dwellers, rams, or kribs yet. I'm in the research stage right now. I've got a few questions about kribensis cichlids.

If I went with kribs, I would be looking to breed them. What tankmates would be able to tolerate aggressive breeding behavior? And I've heard that dither fish actually help the pair bond. Any truth in that?

kribs will do fine in a comunity even paired breeders i keep mine in a 29g with a number of other species as well as 3 generations of young they tolerate most fish only other ciclids and adult kribs get any agression proper, most fish will be just seen off if they come to close to a nest site/young

I'm thinking of stocking the tank, in addition to the kribensis pair, with:
4x sterbai corydoras
3x cherry barbs
6x harlequin rasboras

Would this be overstocked?

I think your stocking list sounds just fine to me..........As long as you have good filtration your tank should be fine.........Good Luck with breeding the Kribs!

nice! i have harlequin rasboras with my kribs, i was given them as part of a group of unwanted fish but i have really come to like them

i just purchased my kribs for my daughter and within 2 weeks had babies didnt know i had a pair nor planned on the babies. IM so enjoying this process if i had found these before i had my africans i would have gotten them instead. Today i had to seperate them because she was attacking the male today. Up till this point though they got along great i will wait till the fry are bigger and move them and put the 2 back together is this the right thing to do??? Yes i love the kribs now and have 15-20 baby on the first litter. thanks shari
