Just got my discus!

I just got my first 3 discus yesterday. 1 solid orange 1 red leopard and 1 blue snakeskin. They are already eating and getting along . I will post pictures soon. Is it okay to just have 3? My lfs said it was the minimum

Discus are cichlids and as such six are a much better number as far as a shoal, as it spreads out the aggression. When I had just three the Blue Diamond was unrelentless in his badgering of the other two. Once the number of Discus in my tank be became eight all was peace and harmony. What size tank are they in, and what size are they?? Any other tankmates with the discus?

I will accept money! haha I already dropped $200 on the 3 i got and I am probably getting 2 more today. Tank size is 60 gallon and other tank mates are gold nugget pleco, 2 electric blue rams, 8 cardinals, apistogramma sp., 6 marbled hacketfishes, and 5 panda corys.

Beautiful Discus, if I do say so myself.
Is that a limestone rock in the same aquarium? I heard limestone can increase PH and hardness, which should be kept low for Discus.

its Texas Holy Rock which does raise ph but I have Acid Buffer in there. ph is at 6.2 right now.

Ah. Good to know. The only reason I never considered Discus is the price.
I can keep stable water parameters, but I cannot afford fish which cost more than my tank, if you know what I mean.

Well, this new LFS I discovered had these really small juvenile Discus for sale at 11 Euro each (approx 15 USD). I just kept staring at these cute biscuit-sized Discus for a good five minutes.

I'll stick to Angelfish for now ;)
