I am sitting my brothers 50 gallon tank and know nothing about fish. He has 2 Jack Dempseys, an electric yellow cichlid, I think a couple of catfish that hang out at the bottom and I think another smaller brown cichlid. One of the jack dempsey's tends to hang out in the front and is usually a real bully in the tank, while the other dempsey tends to stay in the bank of the tank. Lately they have both been swimming around together...one follows the other and they are swimming all around the tank...the female is doing this twitching thing. Usually the boy chase all the other fish away including her and I am not used to seeing them this close...what could be going on??

If male and female dempsey, then spawning behaivor would be my guess. Best to just leave them be, they are very good parents and should need nothing but clean water and not too much food for too much can cause water quality issues= sick fish and then... your brother will kick your ...
