wow I would try and take the other one out for a 2 week period and then put him back in and see if the hurt one gets any better.

well....i have decided it is some sort of fungus/bacteria...yesterday it was only half the lip not it is the whole upper lip and his right pectoral fin has a whitish area and part of it is missing.....it looked nipped before and now looks worse. also, i sit and watch this tank often as it is right next to my chair in the living room that i always sit in and i just dont think there is enough aggreesion between the two for and injury like this. i was able to free up one of my QT tanks, gave the tank a good hot water wash out, put water from the mnuba tank in it and moved the injured/sick acei over. if it is bacteria/fungus what would be the best treatment option??

ps it already looks worse since the last photo i posted and it was only taken a few hours ago...

i hadnt connected the 2 until last night when it was getting worse with this guy....my wtaer quality is good all tests are within norml limits ammonia 0ppm, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 10-20ppm...so my water is good....and i have 3 fish that have been in the dispay for a while with no problems. all these fish were qt for 2 weeks before going into the display...not i fell like there is something in my tank that is causing this and i am about ready to got get another tank (this would make 7, 3 of which being qt) and break down my 55 and start all over again...unless there is something i can treat my diplsay tank with wthout breaking it down to get rid of what ever bacteria/fungus is in there to be causing this....also what should i be treating the sick fish with while in QT?!?!?!?!??!?!

I wouldn't recommend breaking down the tank. It's really impossible to tell if the infection is bacterial or fungal, but my guess would be bacterial. Something like Maracyn II or Plus should be good. Just make sure to follow the instructions carefully.

here are some updated photos....the fish has been in qt for 24 hours now and it looks much worse...i have PM'ed dawn and am working with her towards any treatment that may be neccessary the first pic is of day 1, second just taken
