Question Incoming Brackish Cichlids need info

Okay, Been to the Brackish side of town an no info there so..... I had given up hope of ever getting Orange Chromides and now I am told that sunday if quarantine goes well I can purchase the 4 I want. GREAT but since I had given up hope I did not start to turn my 75 gallon tank into a brackish tank so I only have a 10 gallon that I am currently setting up today for the 4. Yes it is too small for them in the long run but since these guys are wee ones it should do till the other tank is switched. My problem is I do not have a seeded filter for brackish. I have 4 from angels plus #2 in my 75g and #2 in my 40g which now has 2 angels and their newly hatched babies in it. The 10g will be on the low end brackish (since I am told that is where they are currently being housed in)... What do I do for a seeded sponge? Can I use one out of the other tanks? )....I am thinking that the bacteria on the sponge will die do to shock going from fresh to brackish).

I will be asking if frank can send a seeded sponge along with the fish, but if he cant ..what should I do???

The best option would be to try and get anything even a cup of sand from the lfs from the tank the fish are in now.
There isnt much you can do if they have a bare bottom tank, you might need to monitor levels and be prepared to do water changes if the levels start to go up.

It is extremely important not to raise the salinity too fast, it can stall or kill the cycle.

You can try adding something from the freshwater tank if the salinity is not too high in the tank the chromides are going into. It should be ok but as I said above, you need to monitor levels regardless.

Let us know how it goes.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

Thank you! I e-mailed Frank the seller asking for either part of a sponge or some sand. If It does not pan out I will be anal with the 10 gallon till I get the 75g turned over.

orange chromide cichlids

Well this is an update....some members have asked for. The cycling of my brackish 10 gallon and turnover from fresh to brackish 75gallon tank went easy.
I received my Orange Chromide Cichlids -wild- last Monday from Franks Aquarium Freshwater Crustacean Farm in New York, (Frank's Aquarium-Freshwater Crustaceans, Hillstream Fishes, Gobies, and more), and they are healthy and happy and soon to have a snack of baby mollies. I have them in quarantine for a few weeks. I originally tried to get them from The Wet Spot Aquarium in Oregon...(his stock is healthy stock) but he could not get them.
If you are interested I would hope that you contact frank and let him know your interested. Just a note Frank is really trusting ...I say this because He sent the fish and has yet to send me the link to pay for them. He said he would do so yesterday ..but it has yet to I guess I need to prod him again.
