Hey everyone. Me again. I have a convict pair in a community tank with another convict, a green terror/golden saum and 2 silver sharks. They have some fry in they're cave, and apart from defending thier cave and maybe 10 or 15 cm around it they are fine. But as the fry mature some more are they gonna become more aggressive. And should i remove the fish or fry. Because atm i only have One tank i was planning on getting another 1 in a month or 2 but i cant afford one right now. Your advice would be much appreciated.

The fry must be removed when they reach sexual maturity where aggression often sets in. Juveniles often shoal in the meantime but you must prepare to accommodate all the fry. Remember that convicts are just one of the most prolific cichlids and are quite a pain once you cannot anymore accommodate all the fry.

If I were you, it's time you talk with your lfs, clubs and friends if they can take away most of your fry. This will lessen your burdens.:)

No need to remove the fry just now. Convicts are good parents and will look after their fry but you should take note of what Blue said: when they are sexually mature they will start to become agressive. And again, Blue said they are very prolific - so get talking to potential homes for them as soon as possible.
