i have a 55 gal and have a green terror and a firemouth i dont know what to do the green terror is the boss in the tank and anytime he sees the firemouth he chases him around im scared he might stress him out and kill him so my question is what should i do? 1.but dithers/targets to distract the green terror i might get like tiger barbs 2.get more cichlids like more firemouths about 2 more or get convicts or somthing 3.get rid of one of them it might be the firemouth. what should i do please help me thanks for you answers. :?
Green terrors don't normally like friends in the tank. It might very well be one or the other. Do you have plants in there? Is there pleanty of places for the firemouth to hide? Does each of them have thier own territories?
a 55 is the MINIMUM tank size for just 1 Gold Saum with no tank mates, if he is big you would not have much luck putting any fish in with him with a tank that size, if he is only small then you have a Green TERROR that lives up to the name, if i was going to try other fish in with him to curb his aggression I would go with more Cichlids, my Gold Saum only botherd with other Cichlids so adding other non Cichlids might be a pointless exercise.
hey guys thanks yeah they have plenty of plants and hiding places.i think he is living his name out he is only 2.5 in

what do you mean by adding non cichlids like catfish?
There is a reason the the fish is called a Green Terror. You will not be able to add any fish while it is in the tank, he has to go. These fish are very aggressive. Even for a cichlid. Firemouths area moderately aggressive cichlid. It would be like Mohammed Ali climbing into the ring with Lupin. lol Big mismatch!! lol Nix the Terror.
Depends on feeding practices and care. About 2 years normally, less if extremely good care and maintainance is provided. It can also be said that the other extreme may also occur if good aquarium practices are not followed. He could be severely stunted in such cases. I have a 5 year old GT that has, seemingly maxed out at 3"-4". I "rescued" him, yes, it's a male, from a tank of another.
