We are keeping our six new guppies seperated from our four new angelfish in the quarantine tank, since three guppies died the last time we let the guppies swim with the angelfish. All the ones that died had suspicious nips taken out of their tails...so , We are assuming it was the angelfish....

Hey I'm getting some Angel fish in a few days and I'm just wondering if it is acceptable to put Betta's in with them and if not what are ideal fish that can accompany them in a 40 g tank with 4 angel fish.

I'm sorry, I have no idea! But I'm sure you can find this out if you Google it or look in a search engine on the web somewhere.

I love the way angelfish eat! They are so fast and aggressive when it's feeding time, they get ready to pounce on the food when they see my hand above the tank, even though I haven't added the food yet.. lol.

I think angelfish will nip at bettas, they're a rather nippy fish.

I never had problems when my Betta lived in the 50 with my angel....then again, I have a rather docile Angel

So its possible, but I'd watch for fin nipping on either side.....remove the betta if you see any.

As for other appropriate tank mates....well there are quite a few. Nothing too overly active or nippy......You'd probably get several good suggestions from the more experienced if you posted a board asking about it

thanks for the help everyone much appriciated we've decided on a Koi and two black angels and sorted out some decent tank mates like a black ghost knife, molly's Dwarf Gourami's, and a few sword tails i'll let you know how things pan out.
